Wonder what the rationale was? I presume it was to save on tooling costs by not setting up the Windsor plant for Dodge body production.

Europe got also these entry model Dodges (Kingsway) and also DeSotos (Diplomat). GM's Acadian was also sold here at some point. I think they all came from Canada. Here's one '58 Diplomat from Finland.

I ran across something similar with a line of Fords, I think, but Chrysler was the worst for badge-engineered wholly new models of this sort from what I've seen.

Packard had also export models in 40's. I think that they based on taxi models (heavy duty chassis with smallest engine) but looked like standard models (no taxi signs and normal interior).
